Landscape
Dublin, Ireland
DEC.2025

Completed in June of 2025.

This modest intervention to an existing house in Dublin 9 showcases a visually striking, and biodiversity-conscious landscape project that addresses practical requirements of everyday use & long term maintenance of a family home.

The planting scheme was conceived with pollinator-friendly and seasonally responsive principles resulting in a pair of gardens with year-round events combining over 30 different plant species including conifers, sedums, vines, and fruiting trees such as figs, pears and cherries. The planting layouts were designed in "belts" or "tiers", leaning on the colour purple to give the gardens a strong presence and unique identity.

The front garden & driveway were reimagined with new sculpted pillars, light paving, a stone gabion and a vibrant planting scheme with feature plants and trees that offer views from the house and privacy for the residents.

The rear boundary walls were painted in dark purple for depth and character, and clad with willow panels to allow flowering vines to grow over time.

A new patio area was designed at the rear where two solid benches create the outline for an outdoor dining space and a BBQ / utility area. The benches were positioned to offer a close relationship with the garden and the BBQ / dining area.

A playful & flexible lighting scheme was incorporated into the design allowing our clients to change the angle and position of lights to suit the growth of canopies or their lighting needs throughout the year.
