A refined kitchen-living-dining extension framing the horizontal view of a rear garden with a distinct tapered aperture.

This south-facing construction has been cross-divided with a 1m deep roof light, streched across the width of the plan.

A key strategy for this project was to lower the profile of the entire extension by building the extension from a mini-basement. This approach not only enshrines the privacy and generous ceiling heights of this extension but it also observes and mitigates any loss of light to adjacent properties.

The architectural scheme is complemented by a confident use of colour & material with pink venetian polished plaster finishes for the feature curved ceiling that defines the generous nature of the rear volume.

The project involves maremoto's whole-house approach with the total overhaul and improvement of the thermal performance of the building fabric, its mechanical and electrical services and the implementation of contemporary materials & techniques developed for traditional buildings including materials with hygroscopic properties like wood fibre insulation boards and lime plaster.
